137th Street Soccer

Located between Amsterdam Ave and 136th Street, seconds away from City College, lies Jacob H. Schiff Playground. This park has a nice sized turf soccer pitch with multiple goals and colorful street murals along the side of the wall.

In the neighborhood of Harlem, this field attracts a diverse crowd of players and spectators. Usually there are smaller pickup games during the week that take up half the field. If you are looking to train alone or with a friend or two there is some space on the sideline however I would recommend getting there earlier in the day. The afternoons can usually get pretty busy and this isn’t the largest field.

On the weekends is when I usually tend to play here. There are more organized pickup games on the weekend mornings so unless you are on a team already or know someone I wouldn’t recommend coming weekend mornings unless you just want to watch.
